If you only read the checker
You don't need to give us any personal data to use the checker or read the guides. Your answers stay in your browser and are not sent to us or stored.
We don't use advertising or tracking cookies, so there is no cookie banner. We use Vercel Web Analytics (Vercel Inc.) to count visits and page views. It sets no cookies and doesn't identify you: it doesn't store IP addresses, and it works out a visitor count from a hash that resets every day. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in knowing which pages are used.
Our host, Vercel Inc., keeps standard server logs (IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time) so it can run the service and keep it secure. Vercel keeps these logs for a short period under its own retention policy.
If you buy a featured listing (businesses)
We collect: your business name, the name and work email of the contact, your billing details, and the listing content you give us (your MCS certification number and the regions you cover).
- Why: to provide the listing you bought, take payment, contact you about it, and keep the records the law requires.
- Lawful basis: performance of a contract (the listing), and legal obligation (tax and accounting records).
- Payments are handled by Stripe Payments UK Ltd. We never see or store your full card number.
- How long we keep it: listing details while the listing runs, plus 12 months; billing records for 6 years after the financial year they relate to (HMRC rules).
If we contact your business
We may email a business once, with one follow-up at most, to offer a paid listing. We use only the firm's name, its generic business email address and the public facts that make it relevant (its listing on the MCS installer search), taken from its own website, the MCS installer search and Companies House. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in offering a relevant service to businesses. If you reply asking us to stop, we stop at once and keep only your address on a do-not-contact list so we don't email you again. Otherwise we delete these details 12 months after our last email.
If you email us
We use your email to reply, on the basis of our legitimate interest in answering you. We keep the email for up to 24 months.
Who we share data with
Only these service providers, acting on our instructions:
- Vercel Inc. (hosting, logs and Web Analytics; USA)
- Stripe Payments UK Ltd and Stripe, LLC (payments; UK/USA)
- Resend, Inc. (email; USA)
We don't sell personal data, and we don't share it with installers, landlords' service firms or anyone else for marketing.
International transfers
Where a provider handles data outside the UK, we rely on the UK–US Data Bridge (the UK Extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework) for Vercel Inc. and Stripe, LLC, and Resend, Inc. (email), all three certified under it. For Resend we also rely on the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses in its data processing agreement.
Your rights
You can ask to access, correct or delete your data, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to have it transferred. Write to sponsor@heatpumpgrantcheck.uk. We reply within one month. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

If we change this notice, we update the date above.
